Claire and I sat down and began to have many conversations. This film is dedicated to breathing as art—a deeply personal exploration of the breath that carries us through life, even when it feels impossible to continue. This project is born from my own journey through some of the most difficult years of my life. There were moments when I felt completely disconnected, suffocated by the weight of my own existence. Breathing, something so natural, became something I resented, something I couldn’t access.

Because I struggled to breathe deeply—it felt like the very essence of my survival (and work) had been taken from me. Grief can grip us so tightly, it feels unrelenting, refusing to let go. I don’t really want to share the grief, but its imprint is now part of my story, part of my purpose, and a part of my unfolding.

In those moments of struggle, I began to notice the quiet rhythm of my breath. It was still there, holding me, guiding me back to myself, no matter how lost I felt. This film is our way of honoring that journey—the messy, painful, beautiful process of coming back to life.

This is not just a film—it’s a reflection of what it means to find yourself again through the simplest and most profound act of being alive.

Breathing deeply taught me that when life feels overwhelming, all we need is one moment, one breath, to move forward. One inhale, one exhale—that’s all it takes to carry us from where we are to where we can be. This film is not just a reflection of survival; it’s about the power of the simplest act to transform us, moment by moment, breath by breath. It’s about finding yourself again, starting over as many times as it takes.

We dedicate this film to Los Angeles and to anyone who has been affected by the fires—displaced families and friends. My dad moved to LA when I was 10, and I’ve felt connected to this place for a long time.

A note from Claire and me: This was filmed in LA, pre-2025 fires, with some scenes shot in what later became the Sunset Fire’s evacuation zone—including my home. That experience was a reminder of how vital it is to breathe and regulate, even in chaos.

I want to thank the beautiful, amazing humans who came together to create this out of nothing—transforming an idea, a feeling, into something tangible, something meaningful. This wouldn’t exist without your passion, your talent, and your hearts.
